Silver Explorer: Ship Details and Overview
Formerly known as the Prince Albert II, the Silver Explorer is a purpose built luxury expedition vessel that brings a stunning blend style and comfort.
Built to sail the remotest regions on earth, the Silver Explorer has an ice-strengthened hull with a Lloyd’s Register ice-class notation (1A). The ship comes with a small fleet of zodiacs so passengers can visit every possible landing spot and wildlife haven.
The Silver Explorer is one of the most luxurious vessels operating in Antarctica. Carrying only 132 passengers, the Silver Explorer has the feel of a super luxury yacht. Its small size allows the ship to sail through narrow channels that larger ship can’t and the quality and comfort on board make each sailing an absolute joy.
With over 115 crew on board, the service aboard the Silver Explorer is second to none. However, although small, the Silver explorer boast a host of facilities usually only found on much larger vessels. Facilities include a large library with an adjoining Internet Cafe, a full spa service, beauty salon, fitness center with treadmill, bicycle, skiing machine and multi gym, sauna and several top-deck Jacuzzi’s, boutique shopping.
On top of this, the Silver Explorer also features live entertainment each evening and ‘The Humidor’ – a room where cigar connoisseurs can enjoy the finest cigars and cognacs!
